The new Somerset County Technical High School was a replacement building for the County’s previous Tawes Technical High School. The new site presented the challenge of relocating an electrical line that fed the adjacent police precinct. The new building design included many unique construction materials and techniques, including a pre-engineered metal building that connected to a steel frame structure where special expansion joints between the two systems were utilized. Oak Contracting worked tirelessly with the design team and Somerset County Public Schools to successfully address and resolve unforeseen conditions during construction.
