The new Beach Elementary School is a replacement building that was constructed on an occupied site while the existing building remained operational. The new building was built on the existing play field areas. Once the new school building was occupied, the existing building was demolished and a new staff parking lot, community play field, and bus loop were constructed. The project presented unique challenges which included a very narrow and constrained site which borders marshland connected to the Chesapeake Bay. It was also extremely important for Oak to ensure the site was safe for students and staff during construction and operation of the existing building.
Completed in 2024, this unique building combines 100,000 sf for Woodlin Elementary School and 10,000 sf for the Woodlin Child Development Center. Collaborative learning & break-out areas, and thoughtfully designed outdoor play spaces are key features for the new school. Oak is proud to have been a part of bringing the vision for the new and inviting atmosphere of Woodlin Elementary School to life.
The $36 million renovation of Pine Grove Middle School was completed in December 2024. Close collaboration between Oak, the design team, and the Owner was essential to developing and executing a thoughtful phasing plan that allowed school operations and daily instruction to continue throughout construction. Originally built in 1974, the school’s open-concept classrooms no longer met modern educational needs or current safety standards. This transformative project delivered much-needed security upgrades, a centralized media center, a full systemic renovation, and refreshed interior finishes — all while maintaining occupant safety through careful phasing and preserved egress routes.
Oak’s project managers, superintendents and field support employees were always going the extra mile
to ensure the success of the project and took extraordinary steps to make sure the facilities staff was included and comfortable throughout the construction process. Your staff thoroughly understands the relevant issues in the construction of modern school facilities and utilizes the latest technology available to streamline the process.
The Center of Applied Technology – North project will be completed in 2027. Oak Contracting is providing complete Construction Management Agency Services with a budget of $94 million. This building is being constructed on a campus with an occupied High School and Middle School. Site logistics planning with the design team, Owner and major stakeholders was of utmost importance in the preconstruction phase of this project.
